Monday Morning Rambling for Feb. 4, 2008

I is amused.

Actually, I am. I keep a rather close eye on the various metrics that are attached to this blog, little things such as technorati rating and the number of times that someone visits the site based upon keywords. While my deluge of anime content is raising those metrics over the past week, the one that still wins out is Lols Cats. It was an innocuous post on 1/1/08 where I showed two LolCatz which my beloved wife had sent me on MySpace. Since then that has been the largest search draw to this site.

So, of course, I put up another one.

I kind of feel like a preschooler screaming at the top of his voice, "Look at me!" Not that that's going to stop me of course.

Anyways, I was a bit lazy over reading through my RSS feeds this weekend, so I was faced with over 500 unread entries. Not bad for ignoring it for 2 days. As I clicked on the technology portion of them, the first entry which greeted me was one saying that Clinton wants to garnish wages in order to fund her ill conceived national health care system. Great. Like I don't already pay enough taxes.

In disgust, I just marked all as read, and went about my day. But it did get me to thinking. Maybe, Clinton is a speculative fiction author in disguise. I mean, she apparently believes that socialization of private matters is a good thing, I can think of nothing more fictional than that.

But I digress. I've now pushed out a few weeks worth of the episode recap entries, and I think I like it. It's a decent amount of content for the site, and it's a good way to generate it. After all, those serious essays I'll occasionally crank out are something of a pain, especially when I want to allow my brain to rot a bit. As has been the case this past month.

Well, now everyone knows what animes that I'm watching (well almost all of them) because they're right there on the blog. I'm trying to decide if I want to create labels for them, and I think I may want to, at least while I'm actually reviewing them. Once the series is over, I'll probably just have them kept up under the Anime and Episodes labels.

The final thing I'm considering is a modification of the site's look and feel. I've had this black background since I moved No Krakana from Star Wars Blogs to Blogger, and I think it might just be time for a bit of a change.

My backlog of book reviews are still pending, and I finally got around to watching the premier episode of The Connor Chronicles. All I've got to say is: YES! JOY! Now, if only episode two can keep it up.
